Brothers
"This piece is a part of a long dialogue I have had showing all kinds of love relationships, including the love between two brothers."
It now resides at the Gallery Oasis in Joshua Tree, California."

The Leopard
"This is another of the pieces made in Italy and shipped over here to the Gallery Oasis, being sponsored by RoomsOf.com, and located just outside Joshua Tree in the high desert of California. I find it
wonderful that these pieces are here, as this is where I first learned to love stone, while growing up in nearby Claremont."

Jon Fisher ----------
"I feel that I am pulling figures out of the stone with my hammer," says Jon Fisher of his inspired marble sculpture. "My work is figurative and allegorical, incorporating classical aesthetics with contemporary abstract elements." With a painter's background, John relates to marble as if it were a colour palette, creating surfaces full of strength and subtlety; his chisels are like paint brushes, filling the solidity of stone with the detail of emotion. You can learn more about Jon Fisher and his works from the marble of Italy at website of fisheroppenheimer.com.

An American living in Italy, John relocated in order to be close to what he calls "the noble stone." The area of Tuscany in which he makes his home with his partner, Sandy Oppenheimer the collage painter and Allegra, their daughter, is in the heart of the marble industry between Carrara and Pietrasanta. It was here that Michelangelo quarried his stone and where, this century, major sculptors such as Henry Moore and Arp sought out their raw materials.
Fisher carves both small and monumental pieces, most recently a 20 ton figure for the entry of the Gimelli Vineyards in California. His work has been bought in Portugal, Italy and the USA and he has been invited to sculpture symposia in many countries.
John Fisher has not only built a reputation as an impressive sculptor, but has also helped to found the co-operative Leonardi sculpture studio for 12 international artists which has become an obligatory stop for art lovers travelling in Italy. Visitors know that not only will they see some of the finest stone cutting being done today, but they are also likely to share a meal and an inspiring conversations with the hospitable artists themselves.
